About Wayne Gorman
Wayne Gorman (韦恩·戈曼) has been involved in the building and construction industry for over 25 years working on residential, commercial and industrial projects. Wayne started out as a crane driver with rigger & dogman tickets. He then moved into project management with industrial and commercial construction. A transition into residential brought about an opportunity to experiment with energy efficiency that had always been a strong interest.
In the late 1990’s Wayne, with wife Jane and children, Stuart and Louise went for a seven month journey around the world visiting old friends and making new friends in over 17 countries. Energy efficiency in the northern hemisphere was observed with great interest. Upon return to Australia Wayne and family moved to Tasmania where Wayne established the company of ‘Consulting Plus Tasmania P/L’ with the trading businesses of ‘3 in one Building Assessment’ and later ‘Energyman’
Consulting Plus began with pre-purchase building inspections, but there was a need for some direction in energy efficiency for residential dwellings. Wayne became involved with software that provided star ratings for housing. This then progressed to delivering training for First Rate 4 software. Wayne created the Energy & Environmental Rating Association (EERA) to provide energy assessors with a voice and contact point. Wayne was approached by the Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA) to join the board and represent Tasmania in a National approach for energy efficiency and the role of assessors.
Training then expanded to take in Accurate software, with Wayne involved in the pilot role out of Accurate. All the software now matured and become second generation software and First Rate 5 came onto the market. In between all of this activity, energy efficiency in the commercial sector stated to gain momentum. Wayne become accredited as a National Australian Built Environment Rating Scheme (NABERS) assessor and then started delivering training for the NABERS scheme.
Home Sustainability Assessor training was developed as a short interim course until a proper Cert IV training package could be put into place. Wayne was involved in the interim course development and then delivering the H.S.A training and several delivery sessions to train the trainers for a national role out.
Individual states have their own numerous schemes and research underway with one of them being the Victorian Energy Efficiency Targets scheme (VEET).
Mandatory Disclosure is now on the horizon and lots of activity in this area. Wayne is involved in several projects for the development of tools for national mandatory disclosure.
